Hypno Cats, or as they're formally known, Specimen 053, are small black cat-like creatures with bright green, bordering on yellow patterning swirled all across their bodies. Their smaller size gives them an advantage in agility, and it is commonly displayed in their speed. While their speed is impressive, it is not their focal point. As it is implied by their common name, they have a multitude of hypnotic abilities, and they are not afraid to use this power to their advantage whenever they can. Their most common trick is confusing and slowing their enemies, however, if they put more focus into it and speak to their victim in a language they can understand, they are able to effectively control the minds of whoever has been caught in their trap.
Hypno Cats are solitary creatures, and are not known to seek out any sort of company from other instances of their own kind, nor any other specimens of different types. While they are not very social with each other, they are surprisingly intelligent, and they may group up with each other if they would all benefit from the partnership. These partnerships are very rare due to their overall distrustful nature.
While Hypno Cats can be considered to be aloof and paranoid creatures, they are not entirely against socialization. Their high intelligence leads them to crave interaction with others, as they get bored quite easily. They may rarely form bonds with other specimens in their chamber, but they will still split off once their interaction is over.
Their intelligent nature allows them to understand a decent portion of English, and they can communicate in the language if they are required to. They are not perfect, however, and will often stumble over words or leave out some words entirely.
While these specimens may occasionally form bonds and partner up with each other, they rarely place their full trust into people, and will never put others above themselves. They are solitary, and oftentimes selfish creatures, after all. Speaking on this selfish nature, they will never hesitate to take something for themselves if they want to have it. They will often use their hypnosis abilities to manipulate whoever may stand in their way of getting what they want.
Outside of hypnotization, these specimens are generally very manipulative when it comes to other species, and even their own kind, if the particular individual is easily influenced. If they perceive someone as a threat, they will not hesitate to hypnotize them in order to nullify them.
053 specimens, just like many other species, are always passively looking for the chance to infect a human. They do not tend to attack at random, however, unless their target is weak or otherwise vulnerable. Instead of using brute strength or an element of surprise, they will influence their target's mind and render them easy for infection, oftentimes via forcing them into a docile and cooperative state.
Hypno Cats do not have any particular rivalries with any other specimens, but they do overall have a natural distrust for all other species. They are especially wary of larger, stronger specimens, such as Squid Dogs, Tiger Sharks, and Crystal Wolves, and will always opt to flee rather than fight or hypnotize, should the situation allow them to leave.
When it comes to other specimens that do not inherently cause any kind of overwhelming fear, they simply opt to try and avoid them. If the other specimen repeatedly refuses to leave them alone, and comes to find them in their hiding spots, they will end up using their hypnotizing abilities in order to incapacitate the aggressor. Depending on how threatened they feel by the other party, they may end up dispatching of them, but they do not prefer to do as such and will usually leave after the deal is done.
Hypno Cats are an omnivorous species, but they often prefer meat over other types of food, if the option is available. Out of any meat types, they seem to enjoy fish the most. They do not often crave such things, however.
The Specimen 053 source puddle is housed within U2-B, behind a few high level doors, due to their potentially dangerous nature. Instances that may be inhabiting the chamber tend to prefer either hiding behind the many pillars in the containment, or curling up in one of the various darker corners of the pit.
