Dark Dragons, or as they are formally known, Specimen 149, are slightly larger than most other species. Their bodies are covered in scales, which are slightly reflective due to their crystalline properties. The crystalline nature of these scales grants this species resistance against melee attacks, although this resistance does not quite match up to the durability of a Crystal Wolf. Dark Dragons are most commonly identified by their lightly colored underbellies, alongside their pairs of wings that rest just underneath their shoulder blades. These wings are not effective for flight, however, but they do allow these specimens to have an easier time balancing on the elevated spaces they prefer to hang out around. Dark Dragons also have two sets of ears, which grant them a heightened sense of hearing.
Dark Dragons tend to follow a pack structure, although these packs are not extremely organized, given that they oftentimes do not have a designated leader. They prefer to keep these packs small, and will often start to seclude themselves from other 149 instances once they reach a group of four.
In spite of the fact that they form packs, Dark Dragons are not excessively social creatures. They communicate and interact with their packmates relatively frequently, but they do not tend to interact for extended periods of time. They are not asocial, but they understand and appreciate the value of solitude.
Dark Dragons are slightly more intelligent than some other specimens, and they can understand some English. They can also speak the language, to some degree. When attempting to speak it, their speech is usually quite broken, depending on the complexity of what they're attempting to say. Given their difficulties with English, they prefer to speak in Latex Language, and may start to refuse to communicate if they become frustrated by these difficulties. While translators are not entirely required, they are heavily recommended in order to keep the Dark Dragons cooperative.
These specimens are usually relatively docile, unless they are disturbed excessively or for reasons that they decide are poor. Whenever they become frustrated, it is not uncommon for them to swipe at things in order to get whatever is annoying them to take the hint and leave them alone. Or perhaps there is some sort of item that has some shininess to it, packs have a likely chance of fighting over said item.
Dark Dragons, just like other specimens, have underlying instincts to infect humans. While they may normally be cautious about what fights they pick, if they sense that their potential target is feasible to take down, they will not hesitate to take their chance. The only time they may hesitate is to coordinate the attack with their packmates. When the human is taken down by a pack effort, they follow a first come, first serve type of mentality, and it becomes a frenzy, with the end goal being to take the infect for themselves.
Dark Dragons are skeptical beings by nature, typically cautious whenever they encounter another species. If ever, they'll approach other specimens with wariness, but not enough to deter them from starting up conversations if they see a benefit in doing so. On that note, their interactions with other species are often calculated and only out of necessity. Otherwise, they'd rather be dwelling in their lonesome independence.
The species wouldn't mind other specimens in their chamber, so long as they don't take up an excessive amount of space or are causing an imprudent disturbance. When this situation is to come, Dark Dragons won't hesitate to force these impolite guests out of their chamber - or even incapacitate them if the situation egregiously rises in severity.
Dark Dragons are carnivorous specimens that rely solely on meat. If they were to eat any products that were not meat they'd immediately begin to feel sick until the processed food becomes a part of them. However, there's a chance that they can become overwhelmed if they eat non-meat related products too much to where they start to feel incredibly weak until they eventually die.
Similar to Blue Dragon's habitat, they reside in a green crystal-like area in a chamber right next to Cone Lizard's in Unit-1. Often times Dark Dragon's will stand on top or near the top of the tallest crystal in the room, considering they like high-places in general.
