Specimen 305, or more commonly known as Crystal Wolves, get their name from their canine-like appearance and the crystalized horns on the sides of their heads. Their crystalline properties are not restricted to their horns, however. These specimen's overall larger and stronger bodies take after the crystals they are associated so commonly with, and alongside giving them have a very faint shine, makes them incredibly resistant to melee attacks. This leaves them extremely vulnerable to advanced weaponry, however, and a few bullets will shatter them apart.
Crystal Wolves are easily classified as pack specimen, as they are very rarely spotted without others of their kind around them. Instances of Specimen 305 may form close bonds with other members of their species, especially the individuals they are packed with. These packs never consist of other specimens, due to the arrogant nature of these creatures. They are very social amongst each other, but their socialization is not limited to speech. They will oftentimes play-fight and spar with other members of their species for entertainment.
305s will oftentimes claim a territory with their pack, and will work together with a surprising level of coordination to defend it. If an individual that is not part of their pack is found within the territory, they may be chased away if they do not comply with an order to leave, but this will usually not escalate to excessive violence. If a specimen of another species is found within the territory, though, they will be forced out of the territory with brute force if the individual does not heed a warning to leave on their own.
Crystal Wolf packs are always led by the strongest individual. Lower ranking members may challenge the leader to a duel if they believe they are stronger, however they will only do this if they are confident in their abilities. Those who are the lowest ranking, such as runts, are often under the risk of being removed from the pack. Even if not removed, they are still heavily frowned down upon and are not treated with the same respect that they hold for their on-par peers.
Much like most other chamber specimens, Crystal Wolves do not understand much English. They may be able to decipher simple and commonly used words if needed, but outside of that, their understanding of English is very low. They show little to no interest in learning the language, as well.
Akin to other species, 305 specimens are always on the lookout for opportunities to infect humans. Unlike some other specimens, however, they do not display much caution with these efforts, depending on the circumstances. They will not hesitate to pounce on a human if they deem their prey to be defenseless. Melee weapons do nothing to deter them, however, a firearm or anti-latex weapon will prevent them from attacking unless they get the perfect chance to strike. However, if they are with their pack, they will coordinate with the other members of the pack in order to take the victim down and infect them.
Crystal Wolves are incredibly hostile to all other specimens, and possess little to no tolerance for other species. Other species will be treated harshly and talked down upon if the 305 individual is not with their pack, and the other specimen is not within their territory. If another specimen is found within 305 territory, they will be relentlessly chased and possibly removed by brute force if they do not comply with a one-time order to leave immediately.
These specimens also seem to have an innate rivalry with Spider Wolves, likely due to the similarities in their physical appearance. If a Spider Wolf instance is spotted within their territory, they will not hesitate to attack and either remove them by force, or in some cases, they may even torment their victim before either dispatching of them, or throwing them out in a critical state.
305 specimens often partake in 'hunts', which are described quite accurately with that word alone. Hunts are often pre-meditated, with the pack picking out a nearby target and crafting a plan to take their victim down as efficiently as possible. It is not impossible for hunts to be impromptu, however, with the pack spotting a nearby victim and making a collective, but spontaneous choice to take it down. This method is usually only used on smaller or weaker targets that will be taken down easily and do not require as much planning. These hunts are most commonly practiced on other specimens, but they also use similar methods to take humans down.
Once the hunt is over, the leader of the pack is always the one that gets to eat, first. In the case of a human being hunted, assuming that the other pack members are able to withhold their instincts to infect, the leader will be the one to infect the human. It is not uncommon for individuals to prioritize infecting the human themself, rather than sacrificing perfectly good prey to their leader.
Crystal Wolves are strictly carnivorous, and are unable to properly process anything that is not a type of meat, or more gruesomely, the flesh of other specimens. Attempts to consume anything that is not meat will make them feel ill, even in small amounts. If a large amount of these inedible foods are consumed, the instance will become debilitatingly ill, and could potentially die, depending on the severity and how much of the food was eaten.
The Specimen 305 source puddle is contained within Unit 2, with an observation room separating it from the 097 puddle room. The crystals that emerge from the puddle are oftentimes included within a pack's territory, given that they provide cover to stay away from any prying eyes that wish to study them.
